All Roads Lead Home

One of the first things Dennis and I noticed upon setting roots down in Cary, NC., was that if we became lost, all we had to do is keep driving, and in no longer than 15-20 minutes we would arrive back where we started from.

Every road, other than the interstate of course, leads back home. Start on Maynard Road...keep driving...soon you'll be back where you started from. Start on Kildaire Farm Road...keep driving...soon you'll be back where you started from. Start on Southwest Cary Parkway...keep driving...soon you'll be back where you started from. I'm not sure about Walnut Street...but why wouldn't it?

All streets are marked by landmarks; there is no grid to follow. No alphabetical letters...no numbers. Just landmarks. Many, in our area anyway, sound as if one has settled in Sherwood Forrest.

Sherwood Avenue, Nottingham Road, Maid Marian Lane, Frier Tuck Road, Little John Road, King Richard Road, etc. etc...

They're sort of like life experiences...

  • For toddlers: The parent says, "pick up your toys, please" (because all roads lead home).
  • For young adults, even though they're becoming their own person: "We'll be home for Christmas." (because all roads lead home)
  • For adults, their boss says, "just do your job" (because all roads lead home)
  • For the elderly, their children say, "you can't do this any longer" (because all roads lead home)
  • Even God...He created, then receives back what he created (another blog post entirely)
The circle of life brings us back from where we started. Right? Just think about it for a minute.

What goes around, comes around, right? Again, and again....oh boy...if you could see what is taking place in my brain right now, you'd probably shut this thing down immediately.

No worries today, however. 😁

This will be the shortest blog post I've ever created. I think...

No matter how far you travel, or what paths you take, you can always find your way back to where you started. One just needs to reverse their course.

The note you see at the beginning of this post, is from our oldest daughter. Upon moving away, far, far away, when she was 22 (I think), she left a note for us. She knew our hearts would be hurting. That was way back in 2004. Again...that's another blog post. Oh man. What an event that was! And she held true to her word...even during a blizzard.

"Miles don't matter as much as they seem to. I love you, and I'll always come home–wherever that may be!" ~Linds

It still hangs on my fridge...

As always, here you will find me...in Mary's World
